Join the ranks of brave police officers,
firefighters and rescue workers in exciting search and rescue missions.
Tonka Joe needs a tough hero like you to answer the call to fight forest
fires, break up traffic jams, save people stranded by floods and rescue
boats lost in a storm!
The game begins at the dispatch center, where Tonka Joe explains about
the missions and general play. There are four areas to explore: the Fire
Station, Police Department, Mountain Rescue Station and Water Rescue
Station. Each of these has three missions and also features activities.
The missions involve rescuing stranded animals and people, moving
hazards, clearing roads, and constructing protective buildings. Kids
will know they have a mission to attend to when a siren goes off on one
of the stations in a random fashion, and will need to click on that
building to participate.
As this game is designed for preschoolers primarily, the missions are
very easy and mainly involve moving a vehicle to rescue, move or build
something. The mouse is used for movement and there is a wide range of
motion allowed. Missions are structured around using several steps to
solve something, as in the first mission for the Police Department,
where players are asked first to help direct traffic around ducks trying
to cross the road, with cars going one direction and trucks another.
Then, it's off to help round up the ducks which are lost. They need a
pond to live in so a hole must be dug, then lastly decorations can be
added to the park. Most of the missions are fairly similar in format.
The activities at each station can be accessed at any time and involve
mostly either washing and decorating the vehicles, or test driving them
around easy obstacle course with timed laps. Printable certificates are
earned as well as medals which are hung in the dispatch office. Pictures
of the vehicles can be printed out to color, too.
